EU Industry Days 2023 was held in Spain last week. The event brought together leaders from the industrial sector, to debate challenges, explore opportunities, and shape the future of European industry.
There were more than 1,500 registered professionals from 69 countries, such as Germany, Belgium, Spain, Finland, France, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Turkey, and Ukraine, among others.
More than 100 experts participated in the program.
EU Industry Days had a complete program that addressed outstanding topics such as reinforcing the autonomy of the European market, promoting the economic transition towards more efficient production models or the possibilities of supporting the Ukrainian economy and facilitating its integration into the Single Market.
To achieve this, more than 100 experts participated, and they shared opportunities and challenges for the European industry.
The day closed with an exchange of views between EU leaders from the digital, retail, automotive, textile, and tourism sectors.
The second day, continued with the ‘Net-zero Financing’ session focused on technological and innovative solutions in the EU industry. Peter Wennink, CEO of ASML, took to the stage to present the company’s success story in microchip manufacturing.The next session of the program was a roundtable on rebalancing the EU’s relations with China, followed by a panel focusing on international partnerships.
Throughout these first two days, there were several rounds of parallel sessions on various topics, such as how to build strong industrial ecosystems between the EU and Ukraine; digital technologies; standards, critical raw materials and the net-zero industry; and the hydrogen economy as a driver of industrial excellence and decarbonization in the Baltic Sea and the Iberian Peninsula, with Javier Brey Sánchez, president of the Spanish Hydrogen Association, among the speakers.
Ukraine and key Points
On Friday, a round table on the EU defense industry took place, followed by a plenary session entitled ‘Ukraine and the Single Market.’ Finally, Kerstin Jorna, Director General of Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship, and SMEs of the European Commission, analyzed the key points of an event that was held for the first time outside of Brussels.
