SEBI RT1000 in the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Wooptix delivers SEBI RT1000, the new wavefront phase sensor, to the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Tenerife, January 2025 – Wooptix, leader in advanced metrology and imaging technologies, has delivered a phase wavefront sensor to IDeTIC at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This device will be used for research purposes, reinforcing the commitment of both institutions to scientific and technological development.

The handover took place at Wooptix’s headquarters in Tenerife during the Nanotec event, strengthening the relationship between the private sector and academia to foster innovation.
“This sensor is a key tool for exploring new research lines in the field of optical camera communication systems and beyond. Thanks to its versatile software capabilities and industrial-grade design, it allows us to conduct experiments at the laboratory level and scale up to industrial applications” said Jaime Aranda Cubillo, researcher at IDeTIC, University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
José Manuel Rodriguez Ramos states: “At Wooptix, we are proud to support cutting-edge research with our innovative technology. Collaborating with institutions like IDeTIC at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria allows us to push the boundaries of science and drive impactful discoveries”.
This collaboration highlights Wooptix’s fundamental role in transferring technology to the research community, bolstering the scientific ecosystem in the Canary Islands.
About ULPGC and IDeTIC
The ULPGC was founded in 1989. In just a few years it has managed to position itself as one of the main Spanish universities, standing out in research related to tourism, oceanography, veterinary medicine and public health. In addition, the ULPGC has a powerful international mobility programme.
It has six campuses, three of which are located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, another in the municipality of Arucas (Gran Canaria) and two others on the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. It has more than 1,600 professors who carry out important research activities, organised into more than one hundred research groups and eleven research institutes with national and international recognition.
Among these institutes, the Institute for Technological Development and Innovation in Communications (IDeTIC) leads research in optical communication, wireless technologies, and IoT, fostering innovation and knowledge transfer through industry collaborations and real-world solutions.
The ULPGC promotes the transfer of R&D&I results to society through its Scientific and Technological Park (PCT), a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship. Within this ecosystem, IDeTIC drives high-impact research and fosters industry collaborations to address real-world challenges.

About Wooptix
Wooptix is a leader in optical metrology through wavefront phase, a technique coming from adaptive optics in astronomy. Since the early 2000s, Wooptix has being improving and optimizing the proprietary algorithms running on the WFPI technique (WaveFront Phase Imaging), thanks to the brilliant team.
The company has developed SEBI® RT1000, a wavefront phase camera that introduces exceptionally high phase sampling (1.000 x 1.000), a real time processing (30 FPS), and an absolute Wavefront Accuracy (λ/30 RMS) for the most challenging measurement tasks. Wooptix is headquartered in Tenerife, Madrid (Spain), and San Francisco (USA).
