Field Service & Application Support Engineer – Future Field Service Manager

Madrid (Spain) and Grenoble (France) – Semiconductor Division – Full-Time (Remote and On-Site)
Job Overview:
- As a Field Service & Application Support Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, upgrade, troubleshooting, and optimization of Wooptix systems at customer sites. Additionally, you will provide application support, working closely with customers to ensure they can maximize the performance and capabilities of our tools.
- This role requires a combination of hands-on technical expertise, customer interaction, and the ability to translate user feedback into system performance improvements.
- In this position, you will gain leadership experience, and based on performance, you will have the opportunity to transition into a Managerial Position within a year, overseeing service support operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1- Field Service Responsibilities:
• Install, upgrade, calibrate, test, maintain, and repair Wooptix semiconductor metrology systems at customer sites.
• Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and preventive/periodic maintenance.
• Orders and installs the necessary parts for tool recovery using our internal software and procedures.
• Assist Wooptix Field Service Team to evaluate required maintenance quotations.
• Manage the on-site spare parts inventory.
• Collaborate with other Wooptix FSEs to improve system recovery and maintenance across multiple sites.
• Provide weekly and monthly service activity reports, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, develop troubleshooting guides, and establish best practices.
• Attend periodic training sessions designed to maintain and enhance maintenance skills and safety awareness.
2- Application Support Responsibilities:
• Assist customers in optimizing system performance for their specific applications.
• Collaborate with customer R&D and engineering teams to enhance system performance and wafer measurement.
• Conduct product demonstrations, training sessions, and provide technical support for wafer measurements.
• Perform Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and conduct data measurement processing and analysis.
• Collaborate closely with the Wooptix Application Team to tailor solutions to customer needs and deliver comprehensive application reports.
• Gather and analyze customer feedback to provide insights for product development.
3- Leadership & Growth:
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction and long-term success.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with customers during critical situations, such as unexpected equipment stoppages, complex troubleshooting, and escalation procedures.
• Ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with customers in high-pressure situations by delivering comprehensive service reports, ensuring clear and transparent communication, and providing detailed action plans to restore equipment functionality as quickly as possible.
• Gather and analyze customer feedback to drive continuous service process improvements.
• Prepare to take on a managerial role by leading small projects, such as tool installations and upgrades, and mentoring junior field service engineers.
• Establish safety procedures and related training programs, and ensure their implementation and compliance.
• As a future Field Service Manager, he will gradually take on responsibilities for managing the global spare parts inventory and overseeing worldwide field service scheduling.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Optical, or related fields).
• Ability to travel internationally (up to 30-50%), including Asia, North America, and Europe.
• 5+ years of experience in field service, technical and application support, and semiconductor equipment maintenance.
• Leadership potential and a willingness to take on a managerial role in the near future.
• Excellent communication, training, and customer support skills.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English is mandatory. Knowledge of Spanish, French, or another language would be a plus.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and hands-on technical experience.
• Experience in semiconductor metrology, system engineering, optics, or related fields is a plus.
Safety Training & Certifications
• Wooptix equipments are installed in a cleanroom environment, requiring the continuous use of protective and lightweight clothing and Personal Protective Equipments (e.g., bunny suit, hood, booties, safety glasses, gloves, earplugs or earmuffs, and safety boots).
• Field Service Engineers must complete safety training and obtain necessary certifications (with periodic renewals) due to the hazards associated with the cleanroom environment and the nature of their work on Wooptix equipment (e.g., exposure to electrical currents, moving mechanical parts, etc.).
• Cleanrooms are controlled environments with regulated temperature and humidity and can be extremely noisy. During installation, maintenance, and repair, the Field Service Engineer may be required to work in awkward or elevated positions, as well as stoop, bend, or crawl while wearing protective and cleanroom clothing and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This requires excellent physical condition and strict adherence to safety procedures. The Field Service Engineer must have no medical contraindications or restrictions preventing them from working in such conditions.
• Field Service Engineering positions require:
• Specific vision abilities, including close vision, color recognition, peripheral vision, and depth perception, as necessary to perform essential job functions.
• Ability to lift and carry objects up to 12 kg, without medical contraindications or restrictions, while wearing protective and cleanroom clothing and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Ability to properly and skillfully use hand tools or any other required equipment while wearing protective and cleanroom clothing and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Experience with EFEMs, robots, load ports, pre-aligners, and wafer handling system setup and teaching is preferred (e.g., RORZE, Brooks, etc.), along with knowledge of pneumatics, electronics, FFUs, and automation.
• In critical and exceptional situations involving a customer equipment, Field Service Engineers may be required to work in shifts or during the weekend at the customer site on a voluntary basis, with a special compensation package.
