Optical Metrology

Wooptix is a leader in semiconductor metrology through wavefront phase, a technique coming from adaptive optics in astronomy. With a multidisciplinary team, Wooptix aims to disrupt the metrology inspection industry in fabs by providing the highest lateral resolution at a down-a-second processing.

The company has developed Phemet®, a wafer shape lab tool for blank and patterned wafers, ahead of the upcoming fully automated fab tool, expected in 2024. Wooptix has already deployed Phemet® at several customer sites worldwide.

About Us

Since the early 2000s, Wooptix has being improving and optimizing the proprietary algorithms running on the WFPI technique (WaveFront Phase Imaging), thanks to the brilliant team.

How did it start?

Wooptix was established as a result of the research conducted by the current CEO, who focused his Astrophysics PhD, on Adaptive Optics. Specifically, in how the changes in the refractive index caused by atmospheric turbulence, blurred the image. 

During years, the studies were pointing to discover how to correct it in real-time (10 milliseconds), using a deformable mirror. 

As a result of these efforts, Wooptix’s Wavefront Sensor was born (WFPI). 

The sensor recovers the entire resolution of the detector. Specifically, it presents, physically,  the highest resolution that can be achieved.

As Wooptix originated in Tenerife, the company has its main headquarters in the Canary Islands, where the labs, tech team and R&D are located.

The Canary Islands brings to Wooptix a key location-factor because is close to both great Astrophysics Observatories: the one in the Teide Mountain (Tenerife) and the one in El Roque (La Palma), with smooth access to highly trained talent. The close contact as well with the IAC (Canarian Astrophysics Institute) enhances opportunities of share valuable knowledge.
